All of these things negative things beg the question: Is there anything being done to stop the violence. The answer: yes, but it is not always effective. The main body that governs quality in diamond mines is called the Kimberly Process. it has 81 member states that range from western consumers to African mining economies. It aims  to reduce violence and human rights violation in the diamond industry by inspecting all diamond producers according to the process described in the blue infographic to the left. However, It only takes into account violence committed by rebel groups and not acts of violence committed by government forces themselves. This is considered by many to be a major pitfall of the Process and why it has failed to completely stop the overwhelming violencee in the  Diamond industry.
